Snow Blog

Here are some snow blog reports from the Brenchley kids. See more images at our Photobucket snow site.

"It snowed very hard and high last week.and we built a giant snowman. We also sledded on our hill. that is a road. and it was fun!!!!!" - Colin (8)
"We went sleding down the road while there was lots of snow.We had so much fun! And when we got home we had popcorn, hot cocoa and watched a movie." - Emma (10) "My snow blog - We got snow, on the week of Christmas! On the first day it was 6 inches at 19.8ยบ The truck door's seals were frozen and when Dad finally hairdriered the driver door open the engine wouldn't start. And we had to hairdrier the hood and charge it too. Then a blizzard hit and some places it was 4 inches and some was 2 feet! Papa Ray landed safely, and Alaskans may laugh but this is our storm of the century!" - Caleb (12)

Blizzard 2008!

Over the past few weeks we've have had close to a foot and half of snow! Even snowing through Christmas day! It tooks us a couple of days to even stay on top of the snow falling on the walkway. And if we didn't have a 4x4 truck we would have had to chain up just to get off the hill. Here is a picture of the deck - compared to a week ago. Pretty cool for a white Christmas!

Snow

With flurries of snow Friday night, and Saturday, we woke up Sunday morning to a good 3+ inches and a stiff North breeze. Freezing temps provided some slick roads but otherwise a winter wonderland.

Snow!

So we woke-up on the first of December with a dusting of snow - which melted by noon. Then it started snowing heavy in the late afternoon. The kids went out and were joined by their cousin Sterling. Later the older cousins even ambushed the house for a snowball fight. Here are a few shots on Photobucket - including the cold flamingo.

More Snow!

Yup, we actually had 1 to 2 inches this morning! And April Fool's day was supposed to be yesterday! Most of it melted before noon anyway.

Snow Again!

Well, even though a previous blog stated something about the last of the snow for the year, the last day of February brought more of the white stuff. Rilla (3) who has been dropping her s'es calls it "no." Jack made it home from work after an extended commute while Gail and the kids zipped back from the gym; chaining up on 88th to make it up the last mile or so. March 1st awoke to clear skies and over eight inches of the white stuff. Here are some images (or ‘snaps’ as Jack’s colleagues in India say) including a video of Cian.

Snow!

Yup, we had some snow this year. It wasn't measured in feet, but it was enough to slow things down a little. Here's an image of our back yard...and the last of the snow...we think.

Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Day! We woke to an inch of snow, but clear roads, so Jack was at the office. Played outside even before breakfast of eggs and toast. Everyone enjoyed it, although Colin needs to remember mittens! Emma rolled giant snowballs, which were the only snow left by late afternoon.

Gwen came for make-up piano lessons, after which we went to her new “house” she will be occupying for Uncle Jack in Snohomish. The kids were awesome, with only one pot of dirt being upset twice on the rug by Cian. Caleb brought in our vacuum, and the issue was resolved. Almost all the curtains were rehung by the time we left.

Dot came for dinner, which was pancakes, beet soup, and fresh tuna salad. Rather odd, but colorful – and valentine brownies for dessert. Gail got Jack good with Frank Lobb delivering a balloon sculpture to Adobe in the morning, and mostly white Oh!Chocolate in the evening. 20 years since our engagement night!! If only the gazebo swing was still intact at Bothell Landing.
